INTRO
Academic staff
of the Design Lab include Prof Mary Lou Maher, Dr Mike Rosenman, Dr Kirsty
Beilharz, Dr Andy Dong, Dr Marc Aurel Schnabel, Dr Petra Gemeinboeck, Dr Andrew Vande Moere, Dr Rob Saunders Dr Xiangyu Wang Dr Paul Murty, Dr David
Gunaratnam, Prof Terry
Purcell and Dr Caitilin de Berigny Wall, and who have published over 40 books and 600 research papers
between them. They have carried out research in Australia, Europe,
UK and USA. The Design Lab has access to extensive computing facilities
built around a heterogeneous network of NT-based PCs and G5 Macintoshes.
Applications are invited for scholarships to carry out doctoral
research in the areas of:
- Design
Computing
- Design
Cognition
- Design
Science
INTERNATIONAL
STUDENTS
The PhD scholarship, called the International Postgraduate Research
Award (IPA), covers tuition ($18,000pa) and provides a stipend
(approx $18,500pa). It is worth approximately $115,000 in total.
Competitive conference travel funds are available for PhD students.
Applications close 31 August each year for commencement in in
the following year. Interested candidates should initially contact

AUSTRALIAN
STUDENTS
The PhD scholarship, called the Australian Postgraduate Award
(APA), provides an annual stipend (approx $18,500pa) in addition
to HECS fees being covered by the University. The School provides
an automatic supplementary scholarship to bring the the annual
value of the scholarship to $21,000 tax free. Competitive conference
travel funds are available for PhD students as are funds to
assist you research. Applications close 30 October each year
for commencement in the following year. Interested candidates
should initially contact Dr Mike Rosenman (email: mike@arch.usyd.edu.au)
to discuss their candidature.
