Maria Ioannidou
Director of the Acropolis Restoration Service (YSMA), in charge of structural restoration of the monuments.

Professional Experience:
1975 - 1978:
Member of the scholarly team for the Restoration of the Erechtheion.
1978 - 2000:
Civil engineer in charge of the Restoration of the Propylaia of the Athenian Acropolis.
2000 - :
Director of the Acropolis Restoration Service (YSMA), in charge of structural restoration of the monuments.

Teaching Experience
1974 - 1975:
Work as a scientist assistant in the Faculty of Architecture of Technical University of Athens (NTUA) at the Department of Structural Engineering.
1998 - 2000
Teaching experience in the post – graduated studies project of NTUA “Protection of Monuments, Conservation and Restoration of historical buildings”.

Publications – Congress Participations – Lectures
She has published a lot of studies concerning the restoration of the Acropolis Monuments, and has participated in international conferences with lectures on subjects of restoration and conservation of monuments. She has presented the Acropolis Restoration project in Greece and abroad.

Professor Dimitrios Pandermalis

Professor Dimitrios Pandermalis has been Professor of Classical Archaeology at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki since 1979.  He has served as President of the History and Archaeological Department and Dean of the Philosophical School of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and has presented lectures and presentations in classical archaeology internationally. Since 1973 he has been Director of the University's Archaeological Excavations at Dion and conducted extensive programs converting the excavated area into an expansive archaeological and environmental park.  From September 1996 to March 2000 he served as National Member of the Greek Parliament and since May 2000 he is the President of the Organization for the Construction of the New Acropolis Museum.

Professional Experience

  • Experienced in the design and supervision of development projects.

  • Various individual studies for buildings.

  • Member of the Parthenon Restoration team.
  • Responsible for the study of the Flank walls of the cella.
    The aim of this study was to find out the exact position of each stone from the 750 original stones, which are available on the site for these walls, and to propose a restoration.

  • 1999-today: Responsible for the Parthenon restoration project.

Distinctions-awards
Two second prizes and two honorable mentions in architectural competitions for town halls and cultural centers in Greece.
